WINE REVIEW:

2007 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Russian River Ranches
Russian River Ranches is a cuvée crafted from several estate vineyards, each contributing its own distinct personality. The gentle elevation, moderate temperatures and fine sandy clay loam of Vine Hill make it ideal for growing Chardonnay.
This winery has been specializing in chardonnay for years and it has quickly become one of top-selling chardonnays in American restaurants. Elegant yet powerful, with a complex nose of pear, butter mint, smoke and nuts, it is medium weight with just the right touch of acidity.
This wine creates aromas of jasmine and rose petals, which give way to tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Roasted hazelnut joins nougat and almond butter, finishing with a touch of lime. This chardonnay is medium weight and clean with a wonderful acid backbone, as it expands in the glass, offering up grapefruit, lemon, pear, kumquat and subtle vanilla bean. The lingering finish displays hints apple with a kiss of strawberry.
This wine pairs very well with poultry, fresh sea bass or halibut, particularly if finished with a cream or butter. Also works very well with cheese like Gouda.

Beringer
2007 Napa Valley Chardonnay
Almost half the fruit from the 2007 Napa Valley Chardonnay is from Bertha's Vineyard, which consistently delivers rich citrus and apple flavors. Lemon meringue, pear, vanilla bean and toasty oak notes make this a richly layered wine from the start. The bright citrus notes keep this wine refreshing and undeniably pleasing to drink, with a silky finish.
This wine was whole-cluster pressed to enhance delicacy, and aged partially in French oak barrels for a round, rich texture, and partially in stainless steel to retain the pure varietal character of Napa Valley.
What you'll find with this wine is another remarkable value wine. It exhibits crisp notes of pineapple and oranges, with a zesty acidity, a little oak with a fresh medium-bodied finish.
Pairs well with poultry, fresh seafood and shellfish finished in a cream sauce.
ACCLAIM
88 Points – “Another remarkable bargain. It exhibits crisp notes of pineapples and oranges, zesty acidity, little oak, and a fresh, medium-bodied finish.”

La Crema 2007 Pinot Noir
Like the Burgundy wine region of France, the vineyards of Sonoma Coast offer an unusually long, cool and even growing season. Lingering fog and keep the moderate temperatures throughout the growing season and slow the ripening process. With an extended “hang” time on the vines, the results at harvest are small berries with firm acidity and highly concentrated varietal aromas and flavors.
The 2007 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir offers expressive aromas of ripe cherry, spicy clove and a hint of licorice punctuated by fresh floral notes. Bright cherry continues in the mouth, joined by plum, orange peel and tea leaves, giving a mouth-watering juiciness to this wonderful wine. Balanced acidity and sturdy tannins round out the mouth.
ACCLAIM
90 Points – “There's a fineness to the raspberry and fraises des bois flavor in this wine, with the crisp impression of fruit just coming into ripeness. The aroma is floral and tight, the finish showing more oak than fruit at the moment, needing a year in bottle to come into balance.” —Wine &?Spirits

J. Lohr 2007
Seven Oaks Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2007 J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon is a youthful, dense purple red color with bright hues. The aroma is very generous with black cherry, black currant and plum fruit, complemented by vanilla, char and toasty notes from the twelve to fourteen months in barrel. On the palate, the fruit flavors echo the aroma, complex with blackberry and a plump, round mouth feel and finish. The outstanding quality and intensity of the 2007 vintage is apparent in the wine's density and strong regional expression of black cherry and blackberry fruit, with melted, dark chocolate tannin flavors.
Although the 2007 Seven Oaks Cabernet is ready to be enjoyed now, it is cellar-worthy for an additional 5 years. Enjoy it with your favorite roasted red meats, or tomato-based pasta dishes.
